SELF-STUDY PROGRAM
When a classroom program is unavailable, when only a few
couples are preparing for marriage at one time, or when individual premarital counseling is needed, a self-study approach is
available using the Right Start Student Workbook. The Student Workbook is
designed to achieve the same level of marriage preparation through
mentored self-study. It differs from the Student Notebook used in the
classroom setting in that it contains all the program materials,
including the full texts of the presentations. A couple works through the ten
lessons while being mentored by a counselor or a mentor couple.
The Student Workbook gives
detailed instructions for finding and equipping mentors. The Right
Start Mentors’ Manual provides all the guidance needed by the counselor or
mentors, and assists them in the evaluation of the couple’s written work,
masters of which are included.
Many couples and their mentors have expressed great satisfaction with
their use of Right Start on a self-study basis.
